How long does it take to get the certificate?
There are different ways of receiving the completion certificate. Because of security reasons, it is impossible for you to print your own certificate. The original certificate will be sent directly to the court on your behalf. When you enroll, you may choose regular delivery or same day processing. If you choose regular processing (included with the cost), it should take about 6-10 days. We offer other mailing options (fees vary) that will allow you to receive your certificate as soon as the next day.

Important Information Regarding your Certificate of Completion

If your certificate is not submitted to the court on or before your due date, you are at risk of imprisonment. If you are near your due date and need your certificate to be rushed to the court, contact us for assistance.

Note: Certificates of Completion will not be submitted to the court on your behalf unless you have paid your defensive driving school fees. We accept credit cards, debit cards, personal checks, cashier’s checks and money orders. Contact us for payment assistance.

Does the course cost anything?
The cost to attend Detroit Driver is $60, which will cover all elements of the course, including immediate access to the site and the completion certificate.

How can I pay for the course?
We offer two payment options: credit card or check/ money order. After you fill out the registration form, you will be taken to a completely secure credit card page if you choose this payment option. The site is encrypted to make your on-line purchase safe. The other way to pay for the course is to mail a check or money order to the address indicated after you complete your registration. Make sure to send the check before you complete the course or your certificate will not be sent to the court.

What if my deadline for completion of the defensive driving course has passed?

Contact your Michigan court directly for instructions regarding extension of your due date. Detroit Driver cannot extend your due date.

How do I register for this course?

Registration for this course is quite simple. You can click here to be taken to the online registration page. Just complete all the appropriate fields and you can get started right away. You may also call us at 888-466-7839 at any time to register on the phone. Either way, it just takes minutes, and you are able to start right away.

Can I use someone else's computer or Internet service?
That is what makes this course so easy and great! You can take this from home, work, or your local library. Or you can use it as an excuse to visit friends or family. Whatever computer you use, you simply need Internet access. You can also start on your own computer and then finish on another. *This program also works with WEBTV. Must I complete this course in one sitting?
Detroit Driver is designed for the person who does not have a lot of time. The course is broken up into fourteen (14) sections. You can complete one segment, for example, log off, and then log back on at a later time, and the computer will record the section you have completed. You can log on and off as many times as you wish until you complete the program. You can also do the entire course in one sitting.....it is up to you.

What if I have no e-mail address?
Do not worry if you have no e-mail address, as one is not needed to take this course. Any correspondence can be directly printed off the program or done via mail or telephone. On the registration form, just skip the email field as it is not mandatory. You may also use a friend's e-mail address, if you wish.

How do I get back into the program?
If you have already enrolled, you have a username and password. You may re-enter those codes on our home page where instructed as many times as necessary to access and complete the program. Alternatively, you may click HERE for the login screen. If you have forgotten or lost your username or password, give us a call at 888-466-7839.

What do I do if I get knocked off line?
Many Internet users are knocked off line frequently. This may result from a lost Internet connection, another call interrupting your connection if you are on a single line with call waiting, or simply because your own computer crashes. Remember, as you complete each section of the course, your progress is logged. Completion of chapter one, for example, cannot be lost if your answers are submitted to the system and graded on screen. Being knocked off line at that point will only bring you back to the start of the next chapter; it will not delete chapter one. Our website is unable to control your Internet connection, and inactivity on your part will not result in our system knocking you off line. Any activity requirements will be on the part of your Internet service provider.

Are there any special computer or download requirements to participate in the course?
There are no videos to download in our program and no special requirements at all of your computer. If you are on this screen and on our website, you can enroll and complete the course without a problem.

What happens if I fail the final? Can I take it again?
You may take the final an unlimited number of times without having to pay a retake fee. A new final will appear on screen immediately when you fail. If you have any questions, just email us at help@detroitdriver.com
